Belle City Paracon - November 2nd, 2024
Presentation: Ghosts of the Black Hawk War There is no name more well known in the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin regions than Black Hawk, the Sauk war chief and leader of the Rock River Sauk natives known as the British Band. In April of 1832, Black Hawk and his Band crossed into Illinois and engaged in the last Native American war fought on the east side of the Mississippi River. The war would inevitably come to an end at the Battle of Bad Axe, near present-day Victory, Wisconsin, where the remainder of Black Hawk’s forces were slaughtered mercilessly. Between all of the events of the war, an approximate 77 settlers, militiamen, and army regulars would lose their lives compared to an estimated 450 to 600 British Band and their allies. Of the numerous battle sites located in Northern Illinois, paranormal activity has been observed at nearly all of them; however, the activity at the Stillman’s Run and Kellogg’s Grove memorial sites are the most active and have the most recorded evidence. Join Larry Eissler III, from the PARAFlixx Original series Expedition Entity, as he presents the history of the Black Hawk War and the ghosts that still haunt the Illinois countryside. Event Link |
